Shopify: Store Settings

Here, we'll discuss the steps required to configure a new Shopify Store based on responses in the client's onboarding form.

First Things First

Login to the store on Shopify, locate the Settings option at the very bottom of the left-hand menu, and click it. On the next screen, you'll notice a list of different settings categories. Let's go ahead and take a moment to recognize the settings that the client will be responsible for managing (unless otherwise noted in the Creative Brief/Scope of Work) for either efficiency or legal reasons.

General Settings

Store Details

  1. Store Name: enter the company name here.
  2. Store Contact Email: Refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission.
  3. Sender Email: For this, we'll need to connect the domain to Shopify [additional steps required here]
  4. Store Industry: Select the appropriate industry.

Store Address

  1. Legal name of company
  2. Phone
  3. Address

Standards and formats

  1. Time zone, Unit System, and Default Weight Unit: Refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission.
  2. EDIT ORDER ID FORMAT (OPTIONAL): Leave as is. 

Checkout

  1. Style: Unless we are building a freestanding Shopify Store instead of integrating the store into a WordPress site, disregard this setting.
  2. Additional Settings: For all other Checkout settings, refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission.

Locations

  • By default, the first and only location listed will correspond with the Store Address entered in the General settings. Refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission to see if they would like to add up to seven more locations. 
  • To add additional locations, click the green "Add location" button near the top right corner of the screen.
  • Enter the location name, leave the checkbox "Fulfill online orders from this location" checked, and enter the address and phone information.
  • Click Save

Notifications

  • Click the Customize button to set the customer's logo and accent color. Adjust the Logo width (pixels) as needed. 
  • Click Save
  • The additional notifications settings will be the customer's responsibility to customize.

Legal

  • Refund Policy: Refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission.
  • Shipping Policy: Refer to the customer's Online Store Questionnaire submission.
  • Click Save.
